AFSFI Job Placement and Training

Recucing Recidivism by Providing Critical Job Skills and Placment Assistance

ASFI job placement initiative addresses the challenges to find meaningful work with formally incarcerated individuals. We strive to provide the necessary training to that local employers are looking for.

Getting a job after release is a vital component of the reentry process. It can help you become more independent and give you a sense of structure and responsibility. It can also give you the opportunity to start a new life. However, former prisoners face many challenges in finding a job.

Despite the challenges, some former prisoners have managed to find employment. However, many have low educational and work experience. They also may face health problems or other issues, such as being permanently disabled.

Almost two-thirds of respondents worked in some form of employment prior to incarceration. Most worked in construction, cleaning, automotive, or food service. However, the majority did not have a job lined up when they were released. ASFI aims to make this transition more successful.
